Prayer & Worship
Through our programme of prayer and worship we regularly come together as a school community to pray and give thanks to God.
As a Catholic School, our collective worship reflects the Church’s calendar both in our programme of assemblies and in our liturgies. We recognise the importance of faith in our lives and our collective worship creates inclusive opportunities for us to gather, to engage, to respond and to be ‘sent’, to put our responses, our reflection and our learning into practice on a daily basis.
- Daily Prayer and Worship: Prayer is integral to our school day. Each morning begins with prayer in form time and weekly assemblies reflect on themes from the Church’s calendar.
- The Eucharist: Mass is celebrated regularly, including Whole School Masses twice a term and Holy Days of Obligations that fall within the school week. Students actively participate in liturgies, with roles such as altar servers, readers and Eucharistic Ministers.
- Adoration & Reflection: Our chapels are open every day for personal prayer, offering students time for Eucharistic adoration, meditation or quiet reflection.
- Retreats and Special Liturgies: Students take part in annual retreats, which provide space for reflection and growth in their faith. Each year group has a dedicated retreat, with themes like “New Beginnings” for Year 7 and “Images of Christ” for Year 10.
- Seasonal Celebrations: We mark the Liturgical Year with special services during Advent, Lent and Easter. Services such as Ash Wednesday and the Stations of the Cross offer opportunities for collective worship and reflection.
- Trips & Visits: Visits to Westminster Cathedral and other sacred places to give students the opportunity to connect with the wider Church. Flame Congress - bi-annual event organised by CYMFED
Our caring ethos, and the values we place on the development of the whole person – spiritually, morally, socially, culturally and intellectually – are revealed in the way we listen and speak to one another as well as how we treat each other.

Student Chaplaincy Team
- Mission and Leadership: Our Chaplaincy Team consists of dedicated students who assist in planning liturgies, organising retreats and leading various prayer groups. The team meets regularly to brainstorm ideas and initiatives that will inspire and encourage faith in the school.
- Prayer Leaders: The team is actively involved in guiding their form prayer, especially during form time or in the mornings. The Prayer Leaders receive training and support from the Chaplain and they meet regularly to discuss and plan prayers.
- Training and Empowerment: Students are trained as Eucharistic Ministers, altar servers and prayer leaders. Older students mentor younger ones, ensuring the continuity of leadership in our Catholic life.
