Our Annual #DTShowcase was a great success and all involved should be extremely proud.
This annual event always requires a lot of planning, communication and thought-out processes to make it successful. It includes a Fashion Show, put together and organised by Year 12 and 13 BTEC Fashion and Clothing students, Graphics & Design portfolio work is on show and Food and drink is sold.
Students who organised the event took up certain roles and responsibilities to enable more organisation and structure. Some of the roles included Director, Casting Manager, Wardrobe Manager, Front of House, Runners, Presenters and many more.
As a fashion show, a variety of models were casted, and students worked with Wardrobe & Casting teams to ensure all garments were shown. Accessories were also on show and modelled by staff, including Mrs Gilling and Mrs Turner.
The refreshments went down really well with sweet snacks available and Chicken Wings & Patties, cooked and served by the Year 9 Tenner Challenge Winners, Sensational Six.
Our Sixth Form Presenters, Shenay & Kelechi made the show exciting for the guests with punchy lines and running commentary on each item. The atmosphere of the show itself was active and fast-paced, the way you would expect any other fashion show to be. With food and drink available for the guests both before and after the show, it allowed many to gather together to create a much more social event. The show began with the theme of punk with the models walking confidently and the garments being presented in the best way possible. At the interval and to the end the show, a guest performer, singer Ali Kose entertained everyone with both covers and one of his own songs.
All money raised from ticket sales and refreshments was donated to the Sixth Form Centre Appeal.
The fashion show is a continuous success each year and is a great way to showcase the skills and talents of all Students who are a part of the Design and Technology Department at KS4 & KS5.
