We intend to use the 16-19 tuition fund to provide the following support for students disadvantaged by the pandemic.

  • Small group and 1-2-1 tuition in preparation for re-sit exams for students who did not achieve grade 4 in Maths or English. This will help to ensure that they achieve these qualifications, which they will need to move onto the next stage in their education.
  • Small group and 1-2-1 tuition for students who did not achieve a grade 5 in English or Maths and for students who are economically disadvantaged (bottom 27% Multiple Deprivation Index) to focus on academic writing and numeracy support.
  • This will enable them to improve their skills in these areas and achieve to their full capability in their Level 3 courses.
  • 1-2-1 tuition for SEND students, particularly those with disabilities and who were shielded, who missed larger amounts of learning in the pandemic. This will be tailored to their individual learning gaps.

The money will be spent to:

  • Increase contractual hours of existing staff.
  • Resource and run intervention / extension sessions in addition to existing timetabled hours.
  • Recruit staff to deliver targeted support.

We will ensure that the funding is spent in accordance with the Government’s guidance on the 16 to 19 Tuition Fund by:

  • Publishing this statement on our website.
  • Recording the use of the fund, including references to individual students who receive support, the needs of those students, the number of hours of tuition delivered and retaining the evidence of the tuition provided.
  • Delivering the extra tuition and spend the allocated funds in the academic year 2020/21
