A Journey of Faith: Our 30th Anniversary Pilgrimage and Mass with the Cardinal 

What an extraordinary day it was as our entire school community came together on Thursday 10 July 2025 for a truly memorable pilgrimage to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The occasion was made even more special by the presence of our Cardinal,
his eminence Vincent Nichols, who led a beautiful mass dedicated to our school, our students, our dedicated staff, our governing body, and all who support our educational mission. 

 

A Day of Discovery and Reflection 

Each year group began their journey with picnics throughout central London, transforming the capital into an outdoor classroom.  Year 9, 10 and 12 students had the wonderful opportunity to explore and appreciate some of London's most iconic landmarks before making their way to the cathedral. The excitement was palpable as groups discovered the rich history and culture surrounding them, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for years to come. 

This pilgrimage took on even greater significance as it occurred during the Jubilee of Hope, adding a profound spiritual dimension to our anniversary celebrations. The timing could not have been more perfect, as our school community walked together in faith toward this momentous occasion. 

A Testament to Student Creativity 

One of the most touching aspects of our celebration was the stunning order of service booklet, beautifully illustrated by our own talented students. The Cardinal himself was moved by the artistry and deep meaning captured in these illustrations, taking time during his precious homily to acknowledge the beauty and spiritual significance of our students' work. This recognition from such an esteemed religious leader was a testament to the exceptional creativity and faith of our young people. 

Unity in Journey 

Perhaps one of the most remarkable achievements of the day was that our entire school community travelled together using public transport. This logistical feat demonstrated not only excellent planning but also the unity and cooperation that defines our school family. Watching students and staff navigate London's transport system together was a beautiful sight and showed the strength of our community bonds. 

A Mass of Celebration and Dedication 

The mass itself was a deeply moving experience, with the Cardinal's leadership creating an atmosphere of reverence and joy. Our Jubilee school choir's voices resonated beautifully throughout the cathedral, their harmonies lifting spirits and adding a celestial quality to the sacred space. The most emotional moment came when the full congregation joined together to sing our school hymn – the emotion was palpable as hundreds of voices united in song, creating a powerful testament to our shared faith and community bond. 

His homily touched hearts and minds, acknowledging not just our anniversary milestone but the ongoing mission of our school in nurturing young minds and spirits. The dedication of the mass to every member of our school family – students, staff, governors, and supporters – reinforced the sense that we are all part of something greater than ourselves. 

Multiplying Hope and Prayers 

Throughout this special day, we truly multiplied hope and prayers. The collective spirit of our community, combined with the sacred nature of our gathering, created an atmosphere where faith was strengthened and hope was renewed. The Cardinal's presence and blessing added a profound spiritual dimension that will resonate with all who attended for years to come.

Following the mass, the Cardinal graciously took time to make  photographs with students outside the cathedral, creating treasured mementos of this historic day. These images will serve as lasting reminders of a truly unique occasion that brought our school community together in celebration of three decades of educational excellence and faith formation.
